I dont know what to do, i feel like i`m being pulled every which way and i feel like i`m going to be ripped apart. My ex says she still loves me and the idea of someone else touching me makes her sick and sees red, i started crying while i was talking to her.

i`ve got a boyfriend and truth be told i dont know why i`m with him but we havent done anything but kiss, i dont want to be with him but the look on my mothers face when she talks about me having a boyfriend or when she met him. I need to stop putting others before myself.

i`ve got women and men after me for some reason, i`m nothing special there are lots of people better then me, why would anyome want me?

i need to work everything out lucky i have a weekend of peace as he`s gone to france for afew days.

i have alot to think about, do i keep my mum happy and stay with him or make myself happy and maybe see if anything will happen with my ex or the other woman i have my eye on.

After a week and a half of waiting.. Well, because I was waiting for my salary to come in.. I finally bought my copy of Warhammer Online yesterday.. YAAAAAYYYY Iapos;ve been so excited about getting it that I spent my spare office time reading up about it. And imagining how to play the first character that Iapos;ll make. And watching how the different careers are played. And imagining how Iapos;d play each character. (Yes, that would be my reference to Kintaro Oe practicing how to do computer programming by using a candle and a keyboard drawn on crumpled paper.. The same reference I used when I was practicing Soul Calibur before). What can I say, I research everything that I can.

I guess it was the first time I played Warhammer Online was what got me hooked. I didnapos;t feel the complications of a big MMO when I tried it out - it felt very intuitive, as if a beginner could learn how to play it immediately. And when I tried the career I was discerning.. Man, I was like, I want to use this career type.

I canapos;t wait. And it helps that itapos;ll temporarily take away the loneliness of not seeing my wife for 2 1/2 weeks.

Now if youapos;ll excuse me, gotta call some people to assist me with the account creation.

Teyla sighed, hugging herself as she stood outside the clinic. Elizabeth had been right, there was a map in her room, and because she already knew where the bakery was, she had a vague idea of where she was going. So there she was, standing there in her new jeans and an old sweatshirt with worn elbows.

"Yes, Elizabeth," she sighed as she remembered the words of her friend, stepping forward and opening the door to the clinic.

"Hello?" The Athosian said as she entered.

So, I finished reading Stephen Kingapos;s Duma Key about three weeks ago but have been holding off on writing about because Rome Girl has been reading it. Sheapos;s almost done, however, and is so close to the end that I can review it now without giving anything away.

The problem with Stephen King is that heapos;s always been hit or miss. Some of his books are wonderful (The Stand, It, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, the entire Dark Tower series, Insomnia) while some are dreadful, dreadful pieces of shit (Rose Madder, Cell, Geraldapos;s Game.)

Recently his problem has been that heapos;s obsessed with the car accident that almost killed him which has led to some of his most self absorbed work - including Liseyapos;s Story - so when Duma Key starts off with a car accident your first impulse is to think "Christ, this is going to suck."

But, youapos;d be wrong. He uses the accident simply as a literary device to get the main character onto Duma Key - which is a weird little island in Florida that by all rights should be really popular with tourists, but simply isnapos;t.

Once he gets to Duma Key and moves into a house called Big Pink, the novel hits itapos;s stride and very, very artfully builds up to a complete home run. This is a book that is certainly as good as It and almost as good as The Stand.

It also has one of the best Stephen King characters in the form of a dude called Wireman, who is also at Duma Key in order to get away from something really, really bad in his past.

The story itself is simple. Once on the Key, the main character, Edgar, discovers an ability to draw and paint really, really well.

At first itapos;s just for fun, but eventually he realizes that he can not only paint the future, but he can use paintings to change the future.

This distracts him from the fact that there is something really, really wrong with the island that heapos;s living on.

As the book goes on it becomes clear that King is writing a variation on the Persephone myth and when Persephone finally turns up she is one evil pissed off bitch. Yet, even though this is modern fiction there is nothing King has Persephone do that would contradict any of her original mythos.

By the end of the book really, really fucked up shit starts to happen, but unlike a lot of Kingapos;s books the fucked up shit doesnapos;t come out of nowhere - itapos;s all been built up and makes logical sense based on whatapos;s come before.

The end result is a novel that works on several levels. It will scare the shit out of you, while creating interesting characters who actually grow and develop as human beings as the novel goes on.

There are moments of great heart wrenching tragedy in here, but also soaring triumphs.

My only objection is that at points King mixes the Persephone myth with the Pandora myth. Iapos;m not sure if heapos;s doing this just to make sure you understand the classical nature of the tale heapos;s trying to tell, or if he simply figures more people will get the Pandora references than the Persephone ones, or if heapos;s trying to create a new mythos. I suppose there could be some Persepone/Pandora crossovers in the original myths that Iapos;m simply forgetting.

Anyway, the bottom line is that with Duma Key, Stephen King is finally doing what heapos;s good at again - creating an interesting set of characters in a cool gothic setting and then letting all hell break loose.

If you liked It, youapos;ll love Duma Key.

You may tire of me as our December sun is setting because Iapos;m not who I used to be. No longer easy on the eyes, but these wrinkles masterfully disguise the youthful boy below who turned your way and saw something he was not looking for: both a beginning and an end. But now he lives inside someone he does not recognize when he catches his reflection on accident. On the back of a motor bike with your arms outstretched trying to take flight, leaving everything behind. But even at our swiftest speed, we couldnapos;t break from the concrete in the city where we still reside. And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn for the sea like navy men cause now we say goodnight from our own separate sides like brothers on a hotel bed. You may tire of me as our December sun is setting and Iapos;m not who Iused to be.

"the Self is simply a kind of perpetual signifier ever wandering the earth in search of a transcendental signified that it can never find.."

Stuart Hall couldnapos;t have explained apos;identityapos; in a more apt way.
Many of us tend to conceptualise "Identityapos; as something that is immutable, something that is a given.
But the fact (or maybe what is a fact to me) is that Identity is in actuality something thatapos;s mutable.

Identity is a process of identification.
It isnapos;t just about learning your place in society..it is a never-ending process of learning and re-learning the different roles u play.
For eg, your identity being "single" and being "attached" or "married" is different.
With temporal and spatial differences, there will in turn be noticeable differences in who u identify yourself to be.

Which leads me to the point of judging the self based on the apos;otherapos;.
Without the apos;othersapos;, there can be no conceptualising of what the apos;selfapos; is.
Without any form of differentiation and sense of who u are not, one can never know what one really is.
Similarly, without positionality, there can be no enunciation.

Perhaps thatapos;s the reason why there are still people subscribing to the whole notion of race and caste (excluding the work of the government and other moral regulating institutions of course). Similarly, without Pecolaapos;s ugliness, Claudia and the rest can never be beautiful (and iapos;m not talking about just superficial beauty here). Without the apos;filthapos; of others, one can never hope to justify their supposed apos;pristineapos; self.

Ah..well.
At the end of the day, itapos;s neither a bad nor good thing.
I believe strongly in the theory of discourse.
What matters at the end of it all is this - (1) Who uses this comparative judging, and
 (2) for what purpose exactly.
