Upon reflection, I believe that I have created a quite successfulpuppet through this project. Though I did not have any prior experience in puppet making, I took advantage of the puppetry workshops that we were provided with in order to learn how to make a sturdy and charming puppet. Undoubtedly, it had its problems. The puppetapos;s eyes were never glued on properly, causing them to pop out awkwardly from her head, instead of staying put. As for my puppetapos;s costume, I received some positive feedback on the quality of the outfit from my peers, and I am quite proud of the result of my hours of diligent measuring, cutting, and stitching. During the performance, Brutuciaapos;s elegant outfit made her stand out, as well as her tasteful accessories, which I also think were liked by the audience. However, I felt that during the performance, the bagginess of my puppetapos;s top was a bit odd, and I wish I could have foundreal earrings for her instead of broaches, and that I could have made her a real pantsuit as I had originally envisioned. Also, I feel that the yarn hair does not suit a dignified senator as much as another material would have, and a couple of similar extra touches could have added to her phenomenally. However, in retrospect, I feel that my final version of Brutucia has turned a lot better than I could have ever planned. I had the original goal of creating a puppet that both embodied Brutus and Hillary Clinton, and I think that this was done. Brutucia did have an air of sophistication and sincerity about her, and her details, such as her hair, made her also resemble Hillary Clinton. Thus, I think that my puppet itself did stay true to its original character and its warped inspiration. It was usable during the performance and represented its character well, and was used strategically throughout the play. With a little more practice and fitness, Brutucia could have become a very outstanding puppet.

The group puppet show that I worked hard trying to put together was a long, difficult effort, but ultimately, it turned out to be quite a success. With the original goal of creating a rendition of Julius Caesar with respect to its core ideas, while modernizing the play through the creation of a political parody in a way that would interest audiences, we worked towards developing a script that would allow us to do in a practical manner through collaboration. This worked out quite well, for every member of my group was willing to put in her utmost effort into the production effort, creating a magical teamwork effect. When everyone did their best, the entire show was also elevated to another level, and we were able to create a well-thought out rendition of the play after more practice and planning. When we finally performed, we were ready to act and do what we had rehearsed, and even though one of our group members lacked a script and one of her puppets, we worked together to make everything work out in the end. Our peers and our teacher commented that we had made a very interesting and clear script, which we presented with good projection and voice, despite the complexity of it all. There were times when out audience was confused, however, and we could have made our script clearer, perhaps. For the most part, our audience enjoyed our play and its many political jokes, which is what ultimately matters at the end of the day.

Our performance could have been improved in many ways. First of all, I believe that all of us could have done more work with our voices. While we all attempted to imitate the voices of those that we were playing, we often sounded similar to ourselves, which would have made things even better. Also, if the script could be edited again to make it clearer to audiences who are unfamiliar with Julius Caesar, the play could be more comprehensible to all people. Lastly, there were times when our hand-mouth coordination was off, and if we practiced moving the mouths of out puppet more, perhaps we could have had a more professional final product.

After experiencing this project, I know that I can do a much better job on the next one. The first thing that I would do differently is start manufacturing a puppet voice the minute I receive a role. Irsquo;ve learnt that developing a voice doesnrsquo;t happen over night, and practice is necessary. Additionally, when building the muppet, I would ensure that I know exactly what I want to do with the eyes before they are glued down, so that they turn out proper. Eyes are an important part of an inanimate objectrsquo;s personality, thus this would be important. Next, I would create a simpler script which is easy to follow for audiences, and therefore, more enjoyable. As for a puppetrsquo;s attire, I would take careful measurements of his or her body so that the garments are not too tight or lose when created, and so that making the clothes is simpler. Instead of making elaborate plans for the attire, I would make a simpler one that could be built upon with time. It is undoubtable that this project has taught me much about puppet shows, but it has taught me even more important things having to do with teamwork, efficiency, and hard work, which I will certainly never forget.

birthday present unique

It is 7pm, and I am sitting in Muncy, PA making $55/hr for playing with my phone. Since this offends my work ethics, its time for a post.

I still expect gold to skyrocket and then plunge. However, new developments have changed the playing field.

With the printing of mammouth amounts of currency to pay for our congressapos; historic largess, the overall value of a single dollar is shrinking. Against other currencies it is rising because they are falling faster, IMHO.

So gold will begin to rise in value. Its value is a constant against which currency may be guaged. The spike and drop is yet to come, barring any actual intelligent response.

The thing that gets me is, why? Why the Drama? Why the manipulative idiocy? Who does it serve?

The classic view would be to accuse the presidency, but that doesnapos;t make sense. Bush gains nothing from this, as he is gone in a few months. His cabinet? They lose money and power from this, not the reverse.

Conservatives blame democratic congressional manipulations, but I donapos;t think theyapos;re the initiators of this, even if they did make the whole thing possible.

Follow my line of reasoning, and see if you can spot any major flaws.

4 months ago, I spoke to a small gaggle of reporters on this very issue, although none would print what I said. They were more interested in one-liners. The gist of my argument at the time was, apos;the money is gone.apos;

Rising fuel costs increased the cost of earning money for everyone. It was a single product inflation. Taking this money out of the economy overbalanced the market. And like dominoes, investment institutions began to fall.

First came homeowners defaulting on Mortgages. This strained Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. This drove down confidence in the housing market, which folded overextended lenders and investment firms. Which weakened institutional credit, which caused banks to fail. And here we are.

But it all started with the commodities market, a black hole of information. We have no data on how the price was driven up so far beyond reason. The trades are largely unreported. But it is entirely possible that one group of investors coordinated their efforts to create the oil panic that ensued. Just buy up a few billion dollars in futures, and it looks like thereapos;s not enough to go around.

Thatapos;s what I think, not what I know.

I do know this, though... In the end, many things will have to happen to balance this all out. As prices fall further below $70/barrel, producers will begin to take action. Production cuts wonapos;t work, unless they are very drastic. If they do raise the cost of fuel back to $100/barrel, we collapse as a nation. We just donapos;t have the money.

More likely is a move by Russia to threaten the Georgia Pipeline, or by Iran to threaten Iraq or Turkey or Saudi Arabia or Kuwait. This drives up Oil on fears of a supply break. America responds because we must. Arabs are galvanized against us, and we have a shooting war. Again.

If not war, then withdrawal and suffering here at home. We pull out of our military commitments, and lick our wounds. I donapos;t see this happening, although it is possible.

But without us, there is no Taiwan. Or South Korea. Or Japan. Or Iraq. Or UN. Or Georgia. All gone.

You figure it out after that.

It turned out to be totally different from what I expected. Everything was different, everything was... Well, unexpected. I missed what we had before, I really do. I wish we could just turn back the time and you know, make every single thing right again. But aside from the bad things that has happened, something good came out of it. The good, is unforgettable and very special. Even though this time it didnapos;t mean as much to me as it did before, there were many learning points to get out of this. Well, it isnapos;t all gone yet, because thereapos;s still more to come. I donapos;t know if Iapos;m exactly looking forward to it, but Iapos;ll just see how things go.

I was just thinking, recently, what states in the US have I been to?
I recently added Tennessee to my visited states list, so, here, for your viewing pleasure, is a list of all the states Iapos;ve been to, and at least one thing I did there. This does not include airport terminals, since those are practically not a part of the state.
-Maine: hanging out with uncles
-Vermont: Ben and Jerryapos;s Factory
-Massachusetts: Visiting Grandma
-New Hampshire: Hanging out around the mountains (Iapos;m pretty sure of this one....I should ask my parents, I was young back then)
-New York: My sisterapos;s Vassar graduation
-New Jersey: Dated a girl from Voorhees
-Connecticut: Drove through there many, many times. I think we visited friends there once or twice....
-Rhode Island: Brown tour
-Pennsylvania: I was born there, once...
-Maryland: Halloween party at Amyapos;s
-Ohio: Pooped there. The rest stops are very nice.
-Delaware: Bought a computer there. No sales tax
-Indiana: Purdue football game.
-Illinois: Played ultimate frisbee at Fermilab
-Michigan: Two seconds. Why did they have to put 2 seconds back on the clock?
-Virginia: Honestly, who hasnapos;t visited Colonial Williamsburg?
-West Virginia: Drove through there, the mountains are lovely, the roads are scary
-North Carolina: Camped out for basketball tickets twice but never won them.
-South Carolina: Haha, band trip, Myrtle Beach.
-Alabama: Space Camp
-Tennessee: Camping in the Smokey Mountains.
-Colorodo: Had delicious breakfast on top of the physics building at UC Boulder.
-Florida: Won an Orange Bowl, that one time.
-California: Very briefly left LAX during a layover, BUT I stepped outside, so it counts

Thatapos;s 24 states. Iapos;m impressed. I didnapos;t think I was that well travelled, domestically.

Countries Iapos;ve visited....Iapos;ll leave that for another day.

Tonight was a night devoted to maintenance on my life. I went to the gym, I did laundry, I cleaned stuff, and I even got a small amount of schoolwork done. I need to do this more often :-)
